Statement from the LERA Board

Over the holidays, decisions made by the RWA National Board of Directors regarding an ethics complaint and the manner in which that complaint was handled led to the resignation of many of its members, including President Carolyn Jewel. The current President has been questioned by a significant portion of the RWA membership. Officers of some RWA state chapters have also resigned in protest of RWA affiliation. RWA’s most recent statement on this matter was sent out as an email to all members and can be found on the website: https://www.rwa.org/.

The LERA Board had a conference call to discuss the situation and we will issue a complete statement by the end of the week. We value our chapter and take our service to our membership seriously. All members of the Board unanimously decided to remain for the year 2020. We will devote the January program to the current state of RWA and how to move forward as a chapter.

LERA has a new meeting location: Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center just south of central and east of Eubank. Our room number is 5. The address is

Manzano Mesa

The Board meeting brunch will be held at IHOP on 10605 Central Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87123, from 9:30am – 10:30am.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the January 11 meeting!
